Most Viking refrigeration codes are reminders or door alarms an owner can clear in a minute. A handful, led by oPn, Shr, HH and LL, point to a sensor or cooling fault.

Viking refrigerator error codes come in three kinds. Some are maintenance reminders, like CL or CHECK COND., asking you to clean the condenser. Some are alarms for an open door, a warm compartment or a power cut, and you silence them with ALARM OFF once the cause is gone. A few, chiefly oPn, Shr, HH and LL, say a sensor or the cooling itself is in trouble, and those belong with a technician. If the refrigerator is simply beeping, look first for a door that has not fully latched.
On 5 Series built-ins, DOOR OPEN blinks once a door has stood open longer than three minutes. HIGH TEMP lights when a compartment has run warm for two hours. A flashing POWER light means the supply dropped out, which after a summer storm is just the refrigerator reporting the night’s events. Fix the cause, check the food is still cold, and press ALARM OFF.
Integrated models such as the FDBMIC7360 bottom-mount word it differently. Upper unit open or Lower unit open means a door has been ajar for a few minutes. Upper unit too cold or Lower unit too cold usually settles on its own, and Viking asks owners to allow 12 hours before phoning for help.
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check | When to call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beeping, DOOR OPEN | Door not latched | Shelf items, gasket | Alarm returns with the door shut |
| CL or CHECK COND. | Coil cleaning due | Grille and coil | Code returns soon after cleaning |
| oPn or Shr | Sensor alarm | Press ALARM OFF once | Display stays on the code |
| HH or LL on a wine unit | Temperature drift | Door, setting | Right away |
A blinking CL in the temperature window of a 7 Series integrated unit means the condenser coil wants cleaning. Viking sets that job at every 6 months; afterwards, clear the letters by holding the up and down arrows together for 3 seconds.
Integrated models post CHECK COND. on the same schedule. Hold ON/OFF about 3 seconds to power down, wait roughly 30 minutes, lift off the grille beneath the door and vacuum the coil with a soft brush. Switch back on and reset the reminder. On Davis Shores or Camachee Island, where the air carries salt and sand, look before the reminder appears; our note on salt air and condensers covers the corrosion side.
A Bluezone strip on a 7 Series VRI all-refrigerator is a lamp, not a fault. The replacement bulb kit is RBZB7, and holding the refrigerator selector key for 3 seconds clears the notice.
Rule out a display mode before suspecting the compressor. SHOW on a 5 Series means showroom mode: lights and buttons answer, but nothing refrigerates. The way out is to keep ACTIVATE CONTROLS held down while pressing HIGHER together with ALARM OFF, and to wait for a triple beep. On a 7 Series, VAC and ALARM held together for 3 seconds switch the same mode, and while it runs no fault codes show at all. Integrated units can also arrive still in Demo Mode, displaying invented temperatures while staying warm; Viking sends owners back to the point of purchase to turn it off.
When a 5 Series shows oPn or Shr, its temperature sensor alarm has tripped. Press ALARM OFF once; if the display does not return to reading temperatures, Viking says to call for service straight away rather than keep resetting it.
The FWUI5242G undercounter wine cellar shows HH or LL after the compartment has sat above or below its setting for a long stretch, and that also means service. Its beeping is gentler: one tone a minute once the door has been open beyond 30 minutes.
A HIGH TEMP that keeps returning with doors shut and power steady joins this list.
The diagnostic is $80, and repairs use genuine OEM parts. A control board fault typically runs $410–$980, a fan or defrost repair $240–$640, and sealed-system work $970–$2,640; the firm figure comes after diagnosis. Before calling, note the exact code, whether it blinks or holds steady, what happened just before, and the series on the data plate (here is where to find it).

A band, not a single number: the firm figure is written down after the appliance has been opened and measured, and a range is what you can act on before that. Parts and labour together, fitted, for the fault described here.
| Repair | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic visit | $80 flat |
| Oven thermostat or heating element | $180–$610 |
| Control board or touch panel | $410–$980 |
Flat $80 diagnostic covering the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, credited toward the repair once you approve the work.A written estimate comes before any part is ordered or any labour is billed. The whole published table. Worth fixing, or worth replacing.
The visit is a flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair once you approve it. The repair itself lands in the bands published on this page — oven thermostat or heating element $180–$610; control board or touch panel $410–$980 — so $80 to $980 covers the work described here, parts and labour together. The firm number is written down after the appliance has been measured, never before.
Three faults look identical from the kitchen: a sensor that has drifted, an element or burner not delivering full heat, and an oven that is accurate but sitting in a blocked cabinet. A probe through a full preheat separates them. Two of the three are parts, at $180–$610 fitted, and the third is not.
Flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. If you decide not to go ahead, the diagnostic stands on its own and you keep the written estimate, including what was measured and what was ruled out.
90 days on our labour and 365 days on the parts we supply. Genuine OEM parts. A return visit on the same fault inside the term carries no second diagnostic and no trip charge.
Ring the bench and describe the symptom. A question that cannot be answered on the telephone is a question that needs a meter on the appliance, and we would rather say so than sell a visit to find out.

The cooling fault was found and put right, and the unit has been steady since. What annoyed me was the wait for the part, which nobody flagged when the visit was booked. Sound work, slow supply.

Fresh food side crept up to the high forties while the freezer stayed rock solid. He pulled the lower grille, found the evaporator fan seized with salt crust off the marina air, and swapped it the same visit. No panel got marked.
