About the bench
Anvil & Oak Appliance is an independent shop working on one manufacturer's equipment in one county.

What independent means here
This is an independent shop, and the full legal notice is printed in the footer of every page. It is not a formality: it changes what you can expect from us. We hold no manufacturer service contract, so no one else decides which repairs we are allowed to quote or which parts we are told to fit. We buy genuine OEM parts through the ordinary supply chain and pass the cost through with the labour stated separately. We also have no warranty administrator to answer to, which is why an in-warranty appliance is usually better taken to the manufacturer's own network than to us — we will tell you that on the phone rather than after the visit.
Why one manufacturer
A shop that takes every badge in the county owns a van full of nothing in particular. Working Viking equipment only means the common failure parts are already on board, the service literature is the literature we read every week, and the diagnostic shortcuts are the right shortcuts rather than a guess borrowed from a different design. It also means we turn work away most weeks, and we would rather do that on the phone than discover it in your kitchen.
What we work on
| Category | Typical first symptom |
|---|---|
| Viking range and rangetop repair | Burner clicks but will not light |
| Viking wall oven and speed oven repair | Oven reads its set point but bakes pale or burns the base |
| Viking built-in and free-standing refrigeration | Fresh food side is warm but the freezer is cold |
| Viking dishwasher repair | Upper rack comes out dry but dirty |
| Viking ventilation hoods and blowers | Hood runs but smoke still crosses the kitchen |
| Viking outdoor grills and built-in gas | Igniter sparks but the burner will not catch |
| Viking wine cellars and undercounter refrigeration | Cabinet will not reach its set temperature in summer |
What we will not do
- Claim a credential we do not hold. We are not part of any manufacturer's service programme, and we do not describe ourselves as approved by one.
- Improvise a fuel conversion. Orifices are sized for one gas; a set that does not match the supply will soot or lift, and that is a safety question.
- Replace a board on suspicion. Boards are the most expensive part in most of these appliances and the least often actually faulty.
- Dress up what customers tell us. The verdicts we publish are printed as they were given, the lukewarm ones alongside the rest, and the average shown with them is the average of all of them and not of the flattering half.
- Quote a price for a repair we have not seen. The $80 buys a measurement, and the estimate follows the measurement.
How the money works
Flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. A written estimate comes before any part is ordered or any labour is billed. Parts carry 365 days and labour 90 days. Full rates and terms, or the warranty in detail.
