How to read these

Each one is a single visit: what failed, what was measured, what was changed and how the call ended. They are printed as they were given to us, first name and last initial, and the ones that are less than glowing are printed too. A wall of nothing but top marks tells a reader nothing.

Nothing here quotes a figure. What a job costs is on the rates page, in bands, where it can be checked against the invoice; what happens afterwards is on the warranty page. If a verdict below describes the fault on your appliance, the page for that work explains how it is diagnosed.

The figure 4.7 out of 5, across 61 customer reviews of Anvil & Oak Appliance. Where they came from

Viking equipment in St. Augustine and the rest of St. Johns County — ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, wine cellars, dishwashers, hoods and outdoor grills.

Hood roared but pulled almost nothing. He measured airflow at the roof cap and found the backdraft damper stuck with grease and the screen half blocked. Cleaned both and the smoke clears properly now.

Oven would heat and then quit with no warning. He measured the sensor cold and hot, found it drifting well out of range and replaced it. He also tightened a loose terminal at the back that would have caused worse.

Tobias E.2026-09-08

The cabinet had started freezing bottles on the lower shelf. He found the thermistor reading low, replaced it and then watched the compartment settle over an hour before he packed his tools away.

Ignacio D.2026-09-05

Cycle stopped part way through and the panel lights froze. He found a latch switch worn flat, replaced it, then ran a full wash to confirm the door was reading as shut every single time.

Callum D.2026-09-02

Two burners would not light after the summer storms. Salt had eaten the electrodes and one wire was green at the terminal. He fitted new electrodes, cleaned the connections and dressed the harness clear of the heat.

Desiree L.2026-08-29

Baking ran hot by a wide margin and cakes were burning underneath. He logged the temperature through three full cycles, adjusted the offset and proved the swing sat inside a sensible band before leaving.

Beatriz M.2026-08-25

The ice maker filled but never released a cube and the bin stayed empty for weeks. He warmed the mould, watched the harvest cycle fail, then changed the module and ran it through three harvests before leaving.

Merritt H.2026-08-18

One burner clicked forever without catching. He set the electrode gap, cleared the port with a reamer and checked the spark module across every burner rather than only the one I had complained about.

Farrah I.2026-08-12

Standing water in the sump every morning. He lifted the filter, cleared a wad of label paper out of the drain impeller and checked the hose loop under the counter before putting anything back.

Imogen W.2026-08-07

We lost the lower cavity of the double oven after a week of storms. He checked ground and supply at the outlet first, then the boards, and found only the relay board damaged. He replaced it and explained plainly how a surge gets in.

Camille J.2026-08-04

Compartment temperature climbed overnight whenever the house sat empty. He traced it to a damper flap sticking half open, freed the linkage, then logged temperatures for an hour to prove the fix held.

Lorna B.2026-07-30

The blower rattled at high speed and shook the cabinet. The wheel was out of balance with baked on grease. He removed it, cleaned it back to metal, rebalanced it and checked the mount bolts.

Annika J.2026-07-24

One surface burner would spark on and on without ever catching. He measured the electrode gap, cleaned a clogged port and had it lighting in minutes, then went over the other burners while he had the top apart. Nothing needed replacing.

Sofia L.2026-07-21

Uneven heat across the grate, one side scorching and the other barely warm. He cleared blocked ports with a reamer rather than a wire brush, checked the regulator flow and rebalanced the burners.

Padraig S.2026-07-16

The fan noise had become a whine you could hear from the next room. He replaced the evaporator fan and cleared the drain line while the panel was off. It has been quiet and dry ever since.

Rosalind C.2026-07-11

Upper rack came out gritty every single cycle. He lifted the spray arm, cleared three blocked jets and a coarse filter packed with grease, then ran a full cycle with me standing there watching the spray pattern. Glasses have been clean since.

What people ask about these verdicts

Where does the rating on this page come from?

From the verdicts printed here and on the other pages of this set, and from nowhere else. The figure is the mean of the 61 reviews we publish, rounded to one decimal, and the build fails if the two stop agreeing. Nothing is averaged in that a reader cannot read.

Do you work on anything other than Viking?

No — one manufacturer, the whole line: ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, wine storage, dishwashers, hoods and outdoor grills. If the badge on the door says something else we tell you on the telephone, and you are not charged for a visit to find that out.

What is warranted after the repair?

90 days on our labour and 365 days on the parts we supply. Genuine OEM parts. A return visit on the same fault inside the term carries no second diagnostic and no trip charge.

Not answered here

Ring the bench and describe the symptom. A question that cannot be answered on the telephone is a question that needs a meter on the appliance, and we would rather say so than sell a visit to find out.
