How to read these

Each one is a single visit: what failed, what was measured, what was changed and how the call ended. They are printed as they were given to us, first name and last initial, and the ones that are less than glowing are printed too. A wall of nothing but top marks tells a reader nothing.

Nothing here quotes a figure. What a job costs is on the rates page, in bands, where it can be checked against the invoice; what happens afterwards is on the warranty page. If a verdict below describes the fault on your appliance, the page for that work explains how it is diagnosed.

The figure 4.7 out of 5, across 61 customer reviews of Anvil & Oak Appliance. Where they came from

Viking equipment in St. Augustine and the rest of St. Johns County — ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, wine cellars, dishwashers, hoods and outdoor grills.

The self clean cycle left the oven completely dead. He traced a blown thermal fuse, replaced it, then explained why running that cycle on an older unit is a gamble and what to do instead. No upsell.

Our refrigerator door stopped sitting square and the gasket was pulling in humid air at the top corner. He reset the hinge cartridge, fitted a new gasket, then ran a paper test right round the door before he called it finished.

Colin B.2026-01-27

The hood was loud and pulling almost nothing. He went up on the roof, found the cap damper stuck half shut with old grease, cleaned it and rebalanced the blower wheel. Much quieter, still not quite as strong as I remember it being.

Roger D.2026-01-13

Grinding noise on every drain. He pulled the pump, found a shard of glass lodged in the impeller housing, cleared it and checked the chopper for damage before putting it back together. Quiet again.

Norah V.2026-01-09

The door would not stay tight against the seal. He adjusted the hinge, fitted a new gasket and checked it with a paper strip the whole way round. No more warm air creeping in overnight.

Casper G.2025-12-28

The range runs well and the diagnosis was sound. My complaint is the scheduling: the first visit had to be moved and I had to chase for a new slot. The repair itself has held up without any trouble.

Corinne Y.2025-12-17

The range works again after a new igniter, so the repair itself was sound enough. What I did not care for was how little got explained while it was going on. I had to ask twice what had actually failed and why it mattered.

Kathy V.2025-12-05

The door latch stopped catching so the cycle would never start. He fitted a new latch assembly and it has worked every load since. Keeping me posted about the timing could have been better, but the repair itself was quick and tidy.

Priya N.2025-11-14

Filters rattled and the hood whined at every speed. He showed me the baffles had been refitted the wrong way round, turned them, then cleaned the housing and checked the blower at each setting.

Orson W.2025-11-05

Salt had eaten the fasteners holding our hood liner and it hummed against the cabinet whenever it ran. He replaced the hardware in stainless, resealed the joint and checked the duct run further up for the same corrosion.

Hugh G.2025-10-21

The lid gauge read wildly high so everything came off burnt. He compared it against a probe, confirmed the gauge was wrong and swapped it, then showed me where to sit a probe for a reading worth trusting.

Marguerite O.2025-10-08

The rotisserie motor died halfway through a cook and the grill light went with it. He found the fault in the wiring where the harness passes through the cart rather than in the motor, repaired it, and saved me a part I did not need.

Marcus H.2025-09-30

The door glass had fogged between the panes and you could not see a thing inside. He stripped the door, cleaned and reseated the inner glass with new seals and put the whole thing back square.

What people ask about these verdicts

Where does the rating on this page come from?

From the verdicts printed here and on the other pages of this set, and from nowhere else. The figure is the mean of the 61 reviews we publish, rounded to one decimal, and the build fails if the two stop agreeing. Nothing is averaged in that a reader cannot read.

Do you work on anything other than Viking?

No — one manufacturer, the whole line: ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, wine storage, dishwashers, hoods and outdoor grills. If the badge on the door says something else we tell you on the telephone, and you are not charged for a visit to find that out.

What is warranted after the repair?

90 days on our labour and 365 days on the parts we supply. Genuine OEM parts. A return visit on the same fault inside the term carries no second diagnostic and no trip charge.

Not answered here

Ring the bench and describe the symptom. A question that cannot be answered on the telephone is a question that needs a meter on the appliance, and we would rather say so than sell a visit to find out.
